Gateway to Glacier is excited to be a part of the trail plan for this project for a couple reasons:

  • Local trails are proven to economically benefit communities like ours. The proposed plan would stimulate travel through Historic Uptown Columbia Falls and encourage trail users to take advantage of other community amenities.

  • Trails will provide local outdoor recreational opportunities for residents, reducing commutes to other areas and keeping local dollars in the community.

  • Increased visitation will discourage illegal activities in the area such as dumping, poaching, and trespassing, by creating cleaner facilities and more community vigilance as well as focusing recreational users on defined trails.

  • A shared resource such as community trails fosters appreciation for local public lands and the outdoors.
